Players travel across the island, making various stops at a variety of destinations. A weird phenomenon, named the Dizzies, is spreading like wildfire across Green Horn Island and only they can save the day. In The Stretchers, you play as two medics who have a serious problem on their hands. The Stretchers is a surprise through and through and hopefully it won’t get lost in a busy stretch of Switch releases.
The game has a lot more going on beneath the surface than that relatively straightforward premise, though. The result is The Stretchers, a surprisingly fun one- or two-player game that sees you picking up patients and driving back to the medical centre. After creating an interesting horror game in Little Nightmares, they set their sights on the colorful world of co-op working with Nintendo.
When players get near an object that to grab, such as the stretcher or the limbs of a patient, colored circles appear in conjunction with the medics’ outfit’s color.Tarsier Studios are a creative bunch. The Stretchers’ controls are simple enough as players only need to move around, pick up, drop, and crouch when required. If you wish to play alone, you’ll take control of both paramedics using both Joy-Cons, and if you play it with someone else you’ll use a Joy-Con each.
These irritating but sometimes hilarious barriers for my progress reminded me of Overcooked. Swinging crates, water sprinklers, angry pigs, and more. Of course, it’s not that simple as levels introduce obstacles that make my job harder. How does one do that? By grabbing their limbs, taking them to the ambulance and driving them to the hospital. Players are in charge of bringing those patients back to the hospital to be put through a De-Dizzler machine. This coins the medical term for patients in The Stretchers as “Dizzies”. He goes around Greenhorn Islands and renders its civilians immobile and dizzy. The story finds two paramedics -who appear to be treated like superheroes throughout- going against a former colleague, Captain Brains, who boasts a stunning mustache and has gone evil. " comes loaded with charm, personality, and what everyone loves to laugh at floppy physics."
